Christmas at DFP

Christmas is a special time, an opportunity to share a meal, maybe a glass of wine, and really enjoy the company of family and friends. It’s also a time of reflection of what Christmas is and stands for. Of course the Children and Grandchildren love the presents, the tree, the lights and I take great delight in seeing them so excited by the gifts we have purchased for them.
Christmas is not only an important time for my family, it is also a special time for the DFP family. I always get a bit of a kick out of coming to work that first day in December to discover that Christmas has arrived at DFP, this year is no exception. I arrived last week to discover our reception area transformed, sparkling and glistening with lights and baubles – our chief decorators have outdone themselves. But more than just these decorations, the tree is laden with cards for children in need.
Staff at DFP are able to choose a card with the name and age of a child in need and purchase a gift. The gifts are then collected and passed on to staff at GordonCare. DFP began a relationship with GordonCare 8 years ago, and it is a relationship that we at DFP cherish. GordonCare is a charity which has been operating for 123 years, providing support to children and families in need. At Christmas time, that support is offered by giving gifts to children who might otherwise not receive anything. I delivered those presents this week, and met the amazing staff, I am in awe of their passion and commitment to help these disadvantaged children.
It has long been a source of great joy to me to see how enthusiastically our staff participate and purchase gifts for these kids in need. The initiative starts at a senior level, but is upheld by everyone.
