Project Officer – Building & Construction –

Supervising projects up to $100,000K projects

Contract role – Ongoing

Competitive $$ hourly rate

Local Government authority is offering the opportunity of a long term contract within their Building Business Unit which is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Councils buildings and associated facilities. The job requires approximately 3 years experience overseeing building projects up to 100,000K and a trade qualification is highly desirable.

Key accountabilities :

• Management of building works for new buildings, alterations and additions
• Prepare estimates on building costs
• Carry out tender evaluations
• Ensure a safe working environment for all employees and Contractors
• Maintain all records and information on each project
• Financial and budget reporting on requirements of projects

Qualifications:

A trade qualification in the building industry or a Project Management Diploma would be desirable.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Substantial experience in the construction industry.
• Able to analyse building construction & maintenance problems.
• Assist with development of plans and specifications for new and existing Council buildings
• Proven ability in preparing cost estimates
• Knowledge of OH&S practices within the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to deal with a diverse level of employee and contractor groups in a multi disciplined environment
