About the Organisation

This team forms part of a large Federal Government Department that focuses on sustainable and renewable energy sources.
 
About the role
 
The section provides Emissions-Intensive Trade-Exposed clients with effective, timely, and relevant information, assistance and/or guidance to assist their decision making to ensure compliance against energy target obligations.
 
This section is also responsible for managing data reported by agency and clients to continually improve client support, analysis and compliance monitoring activities and detecting and addressing non-compliance through an escalating regulatory response based on risk in line with the Agency’s compliance priorities and compliance, education and enforcement policy.
 
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Provide advice and education to scheme participants of their rights and obligations regarding the schemes administered by the agency.
  • Undertake moderately complex assessments and support liable entities in meeting their legislative obligations.
  • Liaise with management to address/resolve complex issues, applying work knowledge, precedent and legislative interpretation.
  • Respond to enquiries and situations involving a high level of complexity and sensitivity, which require considerable legislative interpretation and analysis while adhering to procedure and internal posture guidance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other regulatory agencies to assist with the verification of assessments or to address matters of non-compliance.
  • Assist in staff training and development.
  • Contribute positively to strategic planning and decision making within the work area.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of publications, briefing material and reports.
  • Contribute to the development and update of regulatory guidance and standard operating procedures to reflect current regulatory postures, changes to legislation and address opportunities for continuous improvement.
