Job description

We are seeking an exceptional, energetic and highly organised Executive Officer to work with our Government client for an initial 3 -month contract, with the likelihood of a further 12-month extension. This is an office-based role, located in Tullamarine and moving to Moonee Ponds by late August. This role will be supporting a very busy senior executive and would be a great career opportunity for the right candidate.  The position pays $50 per hours, plus super. 

The role

You will be responsible for managing emails and appointments; interpreting policy; developing complex and senior relationships across internal and external stakeholders; providing accurate advice and making quick, informed decisions.

Skills and capabilities:

  • Significant experience as an Executive Officer within government or equivalent.
  • The ability to manage and coordinate the diaries, schedule appointments and organise travel.
  • Secretariat support for a range of Cargo Operations Pathway and local Melbourne Regional Office, executive level meetings including minute taking and agenda management. 
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to new challenges while remaining calm and composed.
  • Exercise sound professional judgement and use a common-sense approach when dealing with issues, problems, confidential and sensitive matters, ensuring diplomacy and discretion.
  • Ability to work without direct in-office supervision on a daily basis and achieve required outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Adhering to and promoting the APS Values, the APS Employment Principles and ensuring compliance with the Code of Conduct.  
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
