Job description

  • Federal Government opportunity in Sydney CBD
  • Initial contract until July 2023 - possibility of extension 
  • $46 - $60 per hour + super depend on experience
Our Royal Commission Client is currently seeking APS5 and APS6 Associates to the Chair to conduct legal research and participate in the drafting and editing of reports and other documents.
 
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting the Chair and Senior Associate in preparing for hearings of the Royal Commission.
  • Providing secretariat support for monthly Commissioners’ meetings.
  • Coordinating meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preparing meeting and public hearing materials.
  • Reviewing material sent to the Chair by the various Branches of the Royal Commission.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Experience in conducting legal research and writing.
  • Demonstrated high level skills in legal research, including familiarity with legal databases.
  • Ability to apply legal principles and present the results of legal research clearly and cogently.
  • A high level of integrity and discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Tertiary qualifications in law required (minimum distinction average or equivalent).
Successful applicants will need to provide:
  • A cover letter, including a statement explaining their experience of high standard legal research and writing (maximum length of one A4 page).
  • Copies of academic transcripts.
