About the role
As an APS6 Data Analyst will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of operational, tactical intelligence analysts and data analysts. This role would suit an intelligence analyst with an affinity for information technology and data, or a data analyst with experience of, or interest in, intelligence practice.
 
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Develop, gather complex requirements to develop risk profiles and data analysis products.
  • Interrogate and combine datasets using SAS and Teradata to detect and analyse fraud risks.
  • Development of process maps, procedures and supporting documentation for data analysis and reporting and undertake quality assurance processes and tasks.
  • Educate branch staff on the appropriate use of data, assisting to increase the overall data literacy and maturity of the branch.
  • Assist with the development of systems regarding extraction, linkage management, monitoring analysis and reporting of relevant data.
  • Contribute to the design and development of visualisation products, dashboards, automated reporting, and analysis tools.
  • Preparing Operational Intelligence reports and providing subject matter expertise, recommendations, and analytical advice to support the evaluation of data and datasets.
Skills and Experience
Applicants must be an Australian citizen to be eligible for this position.
The successful candidate will be required to have (or be able to obtain and maintain) a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance.
  • Knowledge or experience working on SQL and SAS.
  • Has excellent communication, interpersonal skills and has an aptitude for collaboration and negotiation with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Has a high attention to detail and a focus on delivery in a fast paced environment.
  • Be accountable and be a leader to the team.
  • Extensive experience in intelligence gathering and intelligence management in relation to government program fraud and organised crime.
  • Knowledge of analytical software applications such as ibase and Analyst Notebook (desirable ) .
