Job description

  • Federal Government opportunities in Sydney CBD
  • 12-month contract
  • $58.50 per hour + super
The APS6 Policy Officer will provide policy support, advice, and analysis in relation to policy-related matters, including complex policy problems. It may be required to coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
 
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Gathering and collating documents, ensuring appropriate consultation with document owners and subject matter experts.
  • Reviewing case files and preparing summaries of cases.
  • Interpreting and distilling information to provide briefings to senior leaders.
  • Performing independent research, analysis, recording findings and preparing draft written material.
  • Identifying and assisting with the management of risks, issues and benefits.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Experience in policy development or implementation.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Sound judgement and analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high work standards and accuracy.
  • Experience in building relationships both with internal and external stakeholders
