Senior UX/UI Designer (Contract) Richmond, VIC | $60.26 per hour + Super | Contract to 31 December 2026
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior UX/UI Designer to join a large Federal Government agency delivering impactful digital experiences for Australians.
Working within a collaborative digital team, you will play a key role in establishing and evolving a centralised design system while helping shape accessible, user-focused web experiences. This is an ideal opportunity for a designer who enjoys balancing strategic design system work with hands-on UX and UI delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and ongoing evolution of a centralised design system.
- Build and maintain component libraries, variants, and design tokens within Figma.
- Establish UI standards, patterns, governance and documentation to drive consistency across digital products.
- Conduct user research, create user journeys, user flows, wireframes and interactive prototypes.
- Facilitate user testing and iterate designs based on insights and feedback.
- Partner closely with developers and stakeholders to ensure designs are accurately implemented.
- Contribute to the development of accessible and inclusive digital experiences.
- Extensive experience as a UX/UI Designer with a strong focus on user interface design.
- Proven expertise designing and managing design systems, component libraries, variants and design tokens.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma.
- Strong UX capability including user research, user flows, prototyping and usability testing.
- Experience establishing design standards and documentation for consistent product experiences.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience developing UX design frameworks.
- Strong understanding of website functionality, technical terminology and digital delivery.
- Knowledge of digital accessibility standards and WCAG 2.2 requirements.
- Ability to translate complex concepts into intuitive user experiences and interactive prototypes.
- Competitive rate of $60.26 per hour + Super.
- Richmond location with flexible working arrangements.
