The Assistant Director, Assurance is responsible for coordinating and managing the day‑to‑day delivery of assurance activities across the New Framework Planning (NFP) Program.
 
The role supports internal, external and independent assurance engagements by managing inputs, evidence, logistics and follow‑up, and by maintaining a consolidated view of assurance findings, recommendations, risks and actions across the program.
 
Additionally, the Assistant Director, Assurance operates and maintains the NFP Program Assurance framework, registers and tools, ensuring completeness, consistency and audit‑readiness, and supports the program’s preparedness for scrutiny, review and external oversight.
Key Capabilities include:
 
  • Demonstrated professional expertise in risk management and assurance, consistent with APS EL1 expectations for engaging with risk, conducting complex assessments, and providing authoritative advice.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capability, including the ability to gather, assess and synthesise information from diverse sources to inform decision-making.
  • Sound judgement, intelligence and common sense in evaluating complex and sensitive risk scenarios, including assessing impacts, interdependencies and longer-term implications.
  • Highly developed communication and influence skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for executives, governance bodies and diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide high-quality, evidence-based professional and technical advice on complex issues while guiding others to achieve ethical, evidence-based decision-making.
  • Well-developed problem-solving, conceptual thinking and critical analysis skills to resolve issues and support strategic program outcomes.
  • Ability to build productive relationships, collaborate across program and corporate functions, and model a constructive and accountable risk culture.
 Desirable Criteria:
  • Proven experience operating within a PMO or portfolio management function
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience in government or other highly regulated environments
  • AGSVA Baseline (or higher) Security Clearance
