Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Budget Analyst to support our budgeting, forecasting and financial management processes. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate budget development, reconciliation and reporting in alignment with State Treasury approvals.

Key Responsibilities
As a Budget Analyst, you will:
  • Assist with budget preparation and development processes, including the use of SIMS
  • Analyse internal Budget Centre allocations and provide recommendations on additional funding requests
  • Reconcile works programs, analysing Budget vs Actual vs Forecast vs extrapolated actuals
  • Ensure internal budgeting systems are accurately reconciled with State Treasury approvals
  • Support the preparation of consolidated annual and out‑years programs
  • Assist in the development, monitoring and reporting of budgets and financial programs
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate:
  • Proven experience in accounting and account reconciliations
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data
  • A Diploma or Degree in Finance (or a closely related discipline)
Desirable
The following will be highly regarded:
  • Experience in flow charting or process mapping
  • Previous public sector work experience
