Job description

Our local government client is seeking an experienced Community and Stakeholder Engagement team member to join their fast-paced team based in the Brisbane CBD.  Working within the  City Communications Branch and reporting to the Team Leader Community and Stakeholder Engagement, your role is to develop, manage and deliver community and stakeholder engagement strategies for our clients infrastructure projects.
 
Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and role model customer focused behaviour by thinking and planning for customer implications before reacting or implementing.
  2. Work in partnership with your team leader to agreed performance standards and mutual expectations. Give and receive regular feedback to enable performance to be improved and take personal responsibility for optimising your potential within Council.
  3. Develop and manage community and stakeholder engagement strategies for City Projects Office, ensuring deadlines, budgets and organisational priorities are met.
  4. Provide strategic community and stakeholder engagement advice to key stakeholders within City Projects Office and across Council.
  5. Develop and deliver a wide range of engagement tools, in line with Council guidelines, to meet the diverse needs of the Brisbane community.
  6. Support your team members through engaging in continuous improvement processes and contributing to a respectful and positive work environment.
  7. Assist the Community and Stakeholder Engagement Lead in drafting and arranging presentations for key stakeholders regarding Council’s infrastructure projects.
  8. In conjunction with the Community and Stakeholder Engagement Lead proactively identify and monitor community engagement related project risks and issues.
  9. Implement external community engagement activities for construction and design phases of City Projects Office projects, including land acquisition, brochures, presentations, newsletters, resident letters, construction notifications and briefing materials.
  10. Represent Council at meetings with external stakeholders as required.
 
Key selection criteria:
Essential:
  1. Ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards in order to contribute to a culture of performance excellence
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate community and stakeholder engagement strategies to support infrastructure project outcomes and goals.
  3. Thorough knowledge of community and stakeholder engagement issues and practices to reach positive project communication outcomes.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to research, write, edit, proofread and present for a range of projects and audiences.
  5. Demonstrated experience of planning and managing resources and timeframes to ensure the successful communication of project activities and impacts.
  6. Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining positive working relationships to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, including consultants and contractors.
Desirable:
  1. Experience in producing communication strategies for construction and delivery of infrastructure projects.
  2. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related discipline.
