EL1- Technical Business Analyst
  • 12-month contract with possible extension
  • Location: Open to all States (Hybrid working)
  • Must be an Australian Citizen eligible to obtain Baseline Security Clearance
DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a Federal Government client, supporting the delivery of complex digital and business initiatives aligned to strategic outcomes and architectural principles.

Key duties and responsibilities:
  • Work closely with program, business, and technical stakeholders to discover, define, validate, prioritise, and manage requirements that translate into actionable outcomes.
  • Synthesise complex business and technical concepts and present them in clear, simple terms for diverse audiences.
  • Work across both Agile and traditional delivery environments, including backlog creation, refinement, and requirements gathering.
  • Facilitate workshops and perform core business analysis activities such as business process modelling, data modelling, and requirements lifecycle management.
  • Support project managers and delivery teams by translating requirements into deliverables, tasks, and structured documentation.
  • Contribute to the documentation of systems and solutions to support ongoing delivery and maintenance.
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations for improvements and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with business units to support and maintain customer data and system integrations.
  • Maintain a strong outcome and customer focus while constructively challenging business needs.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including technical teams, business stakeholders, and third-party providers.
Mandatory Requirements:
  1. Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in a similar business analysis role, including workshop facilitation and delivery of high-impact initiatives.
  2. Proven ability to engage with technical SMEs to understand business needs, constraints, and concepts, and translate them into clear, simple outputs.
  3. Ability to quickly learn and apply technical knowledge to support solution design and documentation.
  4. At least 3 years of experience working with cloud platforms (preferably AWS and/or Microsoft Azure), including delivery of new services.
  5. At least 3 years of experience supporting staff-facing systems such as ERP, recruitment, learning, or performance management platforms.
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders, work collaboratively, and deliver outcomes under tight deadlines.
Desirable:
  1. Experience working across complex environments with internal teams, external vendors, and integrated technology solutions.
  2. Demonstrated experience working across both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
