Job description

DFP Recruitment are currently seeking an Environmental Advisor to join our client's Business Strategy & Sustainability Team located in Kwinana and Fremantle.

This is a full-time, 12 month contract with the probability of extension.

About the Role

The Environmental Advisor is a key internal stakeholder providing information and advice to ensure compliance with all appropriate legislation, regulatory requirements, and guidelines for the relevant Port environmental functions.  The Environmental Advisor will also coordinate, monitor, audit and report on compliance with site Environmental Licences.

Key Duties:
  • Assists in developing, implementing, maintaining and promoting the environmental management system.
  • Represents on Committees and Working Groups and in industry discussions and negotiations relating to environmental responsibilities.
  • Co-ordinates, monitors, audits and reports on compliance with Environmental Licences.
  • Co-ordinates and monitors incident investigations.
  • Co-ordinates environmental inspections/audits across the Bulk Business.
  • Directs and implements the Outer Harbour environmental management, monitoring and reporting programs including the dust monitoring/reporting program.
  • Maintains, reviews and develops environmental policies, practices and procedures.
  • Develops and delivers environmental training and awareness to employees, contractors and third- party operators as required. Researches and provides advice, liaison and support on environment management issues.
  • Leads teams and provides advice on environmental initiatives.
  • Co-ordinates Environmental Licence amendments and Works Approvals.
  • Continues to improve and implement the Outer Harbour Environmental Inspection Program.
  • Liaises with current and potential Bulk Business customers regarding Environmental Licence requirements.
  • Prepares reports for the Board, the Audit and Risk Management Committee, Sustainability Committee and Bulk Business Review Group on environmental performance.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering
  • Highly developed interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to work cooperatively with others at all levels
  • Knowledge & experience in the development and implementation of environmental management systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in environmental compliance and monitoring programs.
  • Sound understanding and experience working with an integrated Safety, Environment & Quality Management System.
  • C-Class Driving License
  • Ability to obtain a maritime security identification card (MSIC)
  • Good facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Good reporting writing & computer literacy skills
  • Well-developed skills in developing environmental policies, practices, and procedures in the areas of dust, water and waste management
