We are seeking an experienced HR professional with strong payroll capability to support our People & Culture team. Government experience required in a similar role.

You will be the primary liaison with external payroll providers, ensuring payroll data accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and supporting compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and checking payroll inputs, including timesheets, leave, allowances and authorisations
- Working closely with external payroll providers to resolve payroll issues efficiently
- Providing operational HR support across recruitment, appointments, staffing changes and conditions of employment
- Managing HR and payroll documentation, establishment data and personnel records with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
- Supplying HR data and payroll‑related information for reporting, metrics and executive briefs
- Supporting workforce and organisational development initiatives, HR systems improvements and change activities
- Proven experience in HR operations with hands‑on payroll involvement
- Strong knowledge of payroll practices, HR legislation, policies and compliance requirements
- High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Confident communicator with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Public sector experience and HR or business qualifications are highly regarded
