An exciting opportunity exists for an accomplished Senior Engineering Manager to provide strategic leadership and high-level technical expertise within the EMHS Facilities Management and Infrastructure Division. This role is critical to the successful delivery of complex engineering activities and capital project initiatives that support essential health services.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an accomplished Senior Engineering Manager to provide strategic leadership and high-level technical expertise within the EMHS Facilities Management and Infrastructure Division. This role is critical to the successful delivery of complex engineering activities and capital project initiatives that support essential health services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide senior leadership and technical engineering direction across EMHS Facilities Management and Infrastructure.
- Act as the Senior Engineer, delivering strategic and specialist engineering advice on complex projects and initiatives.
- Lead the planning, design, specification, and delivery of engineering and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance and quality outcomes.
- Oversee installation, commissioning, certification, and performance of engineering services and systems.
- Provide expert advice on asset condition, lifecycle management, and improvement planning, including input to the Strategic Asset Plan.
- Lead, manage, and develop specialist engineering teams and project resources to achieve operational and project outcomes.
- Investigate complex technical issues and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations and reporting.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, acting as the primary engineering contact for senior leaders, consultants, contractors, and external agencies.
- Ensure governance, risk management, safety, and quality requirements are met in line with legislation, standards, and health service frameworks.
- Contribute to procurement, contract management, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives supporting safe patient care.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Possession of a tertiary qualification (AQF Level 6 or above) in a relevant engineering discipline, such as marine, electrical, or mechanical engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- Sound knowledge of engineering and building systems and standards as they apply to large, complex facilities.
- Substantial experience working in a complex facilities environment, with demonstrated capability in managing human and financial resources.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise, negotiate, and consult with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Highly developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a high‑pressure environment, supported by strong conceptual, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines, targets, and performance standards.
- Current knowledge of legislative obligations relating to equal opportunity, disability services, and occupational safety and health, and an understanding of how these impact employment and service delivery.
- Qualifications in, or progress toward, project management or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience managing infrastructure projects.
- Significant experience working within a health facilities environment, including plant and facilities maintenance.
