WHS Consultant
Location: Perth CBD
Hourly rate: $60-$65 +super
Contract type: 2 month temp contract with a view to extension.

Role Summary
The WHS Consultant provides high-level, comprehensive consultancy and advisory services to managers and employees across Work Health and Safety (WHS), Injury Management (IM) and wellbeing. The role supports the planning, development and implementation of WHS and IM strategies, policies and procedures, coordinates training programs, and provides expert support to Health and Safety Representatives and WHS Committees.
This position plays a key role in promoting safe work practices, legislative compliance and positive return-to-work outcomes across the our clients department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert WHS, Injury Management and wellbeing advice to managers and employees.
  • Review work practices and support strategies to minimise workplace injury and illness.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and review of WHS and IM policies, procedures and initiatives.
  • Coordinate and deliver WHS and IM training, education and communication activities.
  • Work collaboratively with Health and Safety Representatives, WHS Committees and internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with external agencies including WorkSafe, WorkCover WA and the Insurance Commission of WA.
  • Conduct and monitor incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support workers’ compensation, injury management, rehabilitation and return-to-work processes.
  • Undertake workplace assessments and provide return-to-work recommendations.
  • Monitor WHS and IM trends, analyse data and contribute to statutory and internal reporting.
  • Support compliance with WHS and workers’ compensation legislation and policies.
  • Participate in emergency management and other duties as required.
Essential Criteria
Role Specific

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act 2023.
  • Relevant experience coordinating the implementation of WHS and IM requirements in a complex operating environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to consult, advise and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify emerging trends, challenge current practices and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Well-developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically.
  • Strong planning, organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to deliver outcomes in a changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, contribute to team outcomes and support others to achieve shared goals.
Desirable Criteria
  • Tertiary qualification in health science, rehabilitation, health and safety, human resources or a related discipline.
