Job description

Our state government client is looking for a Project Officer to support the Approvals Systems Reform Directorate. Approvals System Reform is the Directorate to drive environmental approvals reform initiatives to make it easier to do business in Western Australia and promote a strong, competitive, and diverse economy.  

Rate: $50-75 per hour plus Super (depending on experience and suitability for the role)
Hours: Full-time – 37.5 hours per week 
Duration: 6 months with possible extension 
Location: Joondalup, WA 
Type: Temporary casual contract  

ROLE DESCRIPTION 
Project Officer    

Approvals System Reform will be leading projects of work which will: 
  • Pilot new, forward thinking approvals processes, evaluating efficiencies for both Government and Industry; 
  • Find solutions to complex statutory and non-statutory barriers in approvals processes; 
  • Map processes to show current state across multiple complex parts of the Environment Protection Act and work to understand where efficiencies can be made; 
  • Support governance bodies and; 
  • Implement reform initiatives in areas where capacity is significantly restrained.

  • Working closely with environmental experts, your can-do attitude will lead/support delivery of approvals reform workstreams, bringing project and change expertise to planning, guiding, and implementing new ways of working.  
  • You will have a keen eye on how initiatives can be translated into the operational world, considering risks, dependencies, and change management techniques.  
  • You are curious and enjoy learning and working with a wide range of people.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, OR EXPERIENCE  
To be successful in the Project Officer role, the person will need to demonstrate the following requirements:  
  • Considerable experience and ability to lead workstreams within projects and produce high quality products and outcomes.  
  • Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of internal stakeholders.  
  • Well-developed planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities to meet short deadlines. 
  • Well-developed research and analytical skills with the ability to undertake solve and report on complex projects.   
Other Requirements 
  • Current National Police Clearance (or able to obtain if successful) 
  • Full working rights within Australia
