About the role
The section is responsible for assessing applications and ensuring compliance with scheme requirements through communication and outreach, and detecting and responding to non-compliance
- Undertake assessments of scheme applications for eligibility and determine and report on scheme application compliance with legislation against established procedures.
- Undertake more complex technical application verification tasks. Mentor junior staff and conduct training area processes, including the supervision of technical application verification tasks.
- Prepare well-researched written material including assessments, correspondence, briefs, standard operating procedures and other technical information in accordance with documented assessment and/or business procedures.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and clients to explain elements of the relevant legislation, method determinations and assessment.
- Educate scheme participants of their rights and obligations regarding schemes administered agency.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of assessment guidance and tools.
- Contribute positively to the risk management process, strategic planning and decision making within the work area.

- Qualifications in environmental science (including ecology) is highly desirable.
- Experience using geospatial data software, such as ArcGIS Pro will be highly regarded.
- Prior experience in a regulatory environment is desirable.
