The Opportunity
 
We are currently seeking an experienced APS6 Senior Graphic Designer to join the team within a Federal Government Agency based in Geelong. This is a 12-month assignment. The role will work a hybrid arrangement, Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day and will be paying $60.26 per hour plus super

The Role

The Strategic Communications Branch provides communication solutions and advice to support the Agency. The mission of the Strategic Communications Branch is to enhance the Agency’s reputation and facilitate awareness through proactive engagement and by providing accurate, clear and accessible information to audiences in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

The role is busy and diverse, and key duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Leading the design team to develop and deliver high-quality, clear and accessible collateral that meets the needs of participants and other audiences.
  • Managing diverse range of design projects simultaneously, including monitoring and communicating progress effectively, identifying and managing risks by providing advice and recommendations, and managing team capacity, ensuring deliverables and deadlines are met.
  • Working with the Assistant Director of Brand and Design to support Agency brand consistency and maintain brand integrity.
  • Using data and insights, continually improving function and guidance across the design team.
  • Fostering creative consistencies and innovative content creation across a range of touch points such as design, social media, engagement and online.
  • Providing guidance and mentoring team members, supporting their professional development and enhance the team’s capability.
  • Managing and recording use of imagery to support Agency consent processes.
About You

In addition, you will be able to demonstrate the following -
  • Tertiary qualifications or extensive relevant experience in graphic design.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency in project or workflow management.
  • Extensive stakeholder management and problem-solving expertise.
  • Solid understanding of accessibility requirements, including having worked within WCAG 2.0 guidelines and the ability to produce tagged PDFs.
  • Lived experience of disability or an understanding and passion for achieving quality outcomes for people with disability will be highly desirable.
  • Experience working in the fields of marketing, communications, or public relations will be advantageous.
