Job description

We are seeking experienced APS6 Senior Capability Consultant for Instructional Design to join a Government Agency based in Geelong.

The Opportunity
The Capability Design and Development team consults widely across the Agency supporting behavioural and performance change and the design and development of learning and development programs and on the job solutions that are contextualised to the unique environment of the Agency.
This position will play a lead role in the strategic consultation and analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of a range of learning solutions and programs that will help prepare staff for their work with participants and internally.
 
About the Role
 
The Senior Capability Consultant will be responsible for a range of learning and development functions including:
 
  • Strategically consulting with a wide range of stakeholders and supporting the development of training content, on the job components and elements that support best practice 70:20:10 solutions
  • Providing recommendations and developing solutions covering a wide area of capability design and development activities including undertaking consultation across the Agency, training needs analyses, vendor relationship management, vocational learning, learning design and facilitation, performance uplift and behavioural change, elearning, corporate inductions, and creative, effective solutions
  • Providing a high level of instructional design capability in the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of learning solutions including, as required: elearning; face to face content such as facilitator guides and learner guides/workbooks; self-paced guides; and on-the-job learning tools; best practice blended solutions that may incorporate communications, Video on Demand (VOD), Virtual classrooms and Webinars
  • Undertaking procurement and coordination of external programs, managing learning content and delivery by external providers.
  • Facilitating content via train the trainer processes or upskilling of other facilitators on the content of the material.
  • Experience applying WCAG 2.1 AA and inclusive design principles into the development of accessible learning solutions.
  • Managing and coaching less senior team members as required

About You
The Senior Capability Consultant for Instructional Design will demonstrate a background in the design and development of a range of learning and development programs in a corporate setting. An understanding of elearning design principles and current best practice, such as 70:20:10 and blended learning, would be an advantage.
In addition, you will have;
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or Tertiary qualifications in Education, while not essential, would be highly regarded.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a bigger team, including external stakeholders
  • Experience working in agile, fast paced, and solutions focused environments where priorities quickly evolve.
  • Ability to provide a coaching and mentoring role within the team and to others.
