Job description

We are seeking an EL1 Assistant Director - Business Analyst - Redress Integrity & Information Branch to join this Federal Government department located in Greenway ACT. This labour hire contract is 6 months, which includes paid leave and 15.4% superannuation.

The role Redress seeks a motivated and experienced EL1 Business Analyst with strong skills in VBA programming and Microsoft Office/365 automation to drive efficiency and support process redesign across business operations. This is a business-facing role, with a focus on leveraging Microsoft Windows, Office and SharePoint tools to streamline workflows and improve data management.
 
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business and data analysis, automation and scripting languages such as VBA, PowerShell and SQL. They will have experience with SharePoint and data warehouses. They will be a pragmatic problem solver who can work creatively and collaboratively to improve, uplift and document business processes.

Staff within the Redress Group may occasionally be exposed to concepts or details relating to child sexual abuse. Candidates should consider their capacity to manage the risks associated with working with this content on a day-to-day basis. Due to the sensitive nature of the content, a dedicated wellbeing program is available to all staff. What you will do
  • Analyse and document business processes to identify opportunities for simplification and automation, leveraging enterprise data where possible
  • Design and develop practical solutions using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), VBA, SQL and PowerShell scripting
  • Support the redesign of SharePoint trackers, to minimise and standardise data structures, and help data teams integrate these into a data warehouse
  • Prepare clear documentation, including training and user guides to support adoption and ongoing updates to these tasks, and creating technical specifications for solutions
  • Provide SME advice to business teams on technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and engage with ICT to leverage new technology

Our ideal candidate
  • Has advanced VBA skills and experience with Excel, Word, and Outlook (the key skill for this role)
  • Has experience with PowerShell scripting and SharePoint lists, forms and workflows
  • Is able to communicate professionally and clearly with non-technical stakeholders, identify opportunities to streamline or improve processes with robust and reliable business tools
  • Develops key artifacts to support change, record decisions and documentation for tools and processes
  • Acts with high levels of integrity and professionalism in accordance with the APS values, while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment
 
Applicants are required to hold Australian Citizenship at time of application and hold a Baseline security clearance. Candidates who do not currently hold a Baseline must be able to obtain and maintain this level of clearance.
