Job description

The Role

We are looking for an EL1 Assistant Director, Communications to join a large Federal Government Agency based in Richmond. This is a 12 month assignment and will pay a daily rate of $585 per day plus super.

The Communications Branch provides communication solutions and advice to support the Agency. The branch collaborates with business areas to map, plan, and deliver engagement and communications activities that support their projects and reach intended audiences and build their capacity.

Responsibilities include;
  • Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of influential communications strategies and plans to support national delivery
  • Mentor and guide a small team of communication professionals
  • Drive the creation, delivery and review of communications content through various communications channels
  • Identify and embed opportunities for continuous improvement in communications
  • Identify and mitigate reputational risks associated with communication activities
  • Be a trusted partner to stakeholders to embed working relationships and improve reputation of the team
  • Build new internal and external networks to facilitate the development and deliver of effective communication activities
About You

You will be a strong leader and strategic thinker, with extensive stakeholder management experience. In addition, you will have the ability to demonstrate;
  • Supervision/coaching experience.
  • High level of competency in consistently applying assessment tools to identify support needs.
  • Outstanding communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain networks.
  • Experience in facilitating the development of communication activities
