About the client
Our clients focus is on saving and improving Australian lives through on going medical support. They are now seeking a Deputy CFO (EL1) specialising in budget and business services management. 

About the role
You will be assisting Finance team within the Finance and Business Services section. They are responsible for the management of all financial (including a budget of some $1.7 billion) and business services across the agency.

Duties
  • Being able to monitor and report on financial results against departmental and administered budgets whilst leading, preparing, forecasting and dissemination of internal budgets.
  • Prepare portfolio budget submission (including CBMS), portfolio budget statements, estimate updates whilst collaborating with senior management on financial and budget management.
  • With minimal supervision, perform tasks such as audit and risk committee, senate estimates and be able to facilitate service arrangements including property management services.
  • Assist the CFO to implement change, improvement around finance, accounting, policies, and manage the performance and development of a small team by providing strategic direction, leadership, guidance, and coaching.
  • Possess the capability to conduct policy and process evaluations aimed at enhancing business growth and strengthening partnerships with stakeholders.
Deliverables
  • Monthly reporting to the Executive team on financial performance, risk and mitigating strategies.
  • Preparing timely and accurate portfolio budget statements, estimate updates and other governments requests.
  • Updating CBMS for portfolio budget statements, estimate updates and other governments requests.
Desired Experience  
  • Strong Government Financial Management and Operations.
  • Strong interpretation of policies, practices, procedure, and excellent analytical judgement.
  • Strong Stakeholder engagement and negotiation capabilities.
  • Previous Accounting qualifications will be great.
