Geospatial and Geographic Information Systems Engineers
- 12-months contract with possible extension
- Canberra, VIC, Sydney
- Must be an Australian Citizen
DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Geospatial and geographic information systems (GIS) engineers to join one of our Federal Government Client team.
Role will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Work with key stakeholders to design, develop, implement, and maintain a uniform GIS information architecture.
- Conduct technical troubleshooting for geospatial related matters and provide technical insight and recommendations regarding spatial data and spatial metadata standards.
- Assist in day-to-day operations of GIS functions, determining geospatial architecture priorities, developing guidance, providing geospatial assistance on project related activities and undertaking troubleshooting analysis and resolution for incidents and where new GIS capability is required.
- Provide support and technical advice regarding geospatial analysis techniques, GIS analysis tools available, and the use of location data with geospatial toolsets available in the Data Warehouse and on Cloud environment.
- Liaise with IT Operations, GIS Administrators and relevant stakeholders regarding appropriate scheduling for software installation and upgrades both on-prem and on-cloud platform.
- Responsible for development of strategies for integrating GIS applications with other applications in the Microsoft Azure environment.
Mandatory Criteria
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS software development, including Esri Enterprise and Cloud solutions
- Demonstrated ability to deliver Geospatial solutions and support through the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile development practices and processes including Azure Enterprise Cloud.
- Demonstrated experience with web development using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP, and/or ASP.NET.
- Proven experience and knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW) and associated technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to query and interpret data using efficient and effective SQL and provide sound advice on complex data/information related matters to deliver quality solutions.
Desirable Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, geography, or related field.
- Experience with Javascript, Agile, Python, and GeoServer.
- Knowledge of PowerBI or any dashboard applications.
Others
Hold (or must be able to obtain) minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 Clearance.
