Job description

Our client a global leader in the oil and gas industry is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join their team on an initial 6 month contract.
 
As the Safety Advisor you will not only support the safety, security, health and environment but also be the subject matter expert. You will be able to assist the workforce in the implementation of safety, security, health and environment processes, procedures and hazard management strategies. As an integral part of the dedicated safety team your role will be focused on occupational health aspects of Ergonomics, Manual Handling, Noise control and PPE.

Further responsibilities will include the following:
  • Providing personal and safety leadership to site to positively influence site culture
  • Coordination and implementation of risk mitigation action outcomes
  • Update procedures and safe work practices
  • Develop and implement strategies to continuously improve safety programs
  • Provide specialist safety advice to personnel
  • Lead personnel in the use, and understanding, of assessment tools to enable effective implementation and monitoring of systems and procedures
  • Undertaking field assessments, and coaching/mentoring others in completion of assessments
  • Actively participate as an effective member of the safety team to deliver improved safety performance
  • Participate in and lead Incident Investigations where required
The successful candidate must posses:  
  • Degree qualified
  • Demonstrated work experience in safety related positions
  • Sound knowledge of security processes and procedures, emergency response, incident investigations and analysis, compliance assessment and risk management
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Intermediate to advance in Microsoft office suite
