About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Geospatial Science Officer to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects within a large, complex environment. This role provides high-level technical expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and contributes to the delivery of innovative geospatial and digital solutions that support infrastructure planning, delivery, and decision-making.
 
You will work closely with multidisciplinary stakeholders, providing specialist advice, managing geospatial projects, and developing high-quality spatial products, applications, and datasets.
 
Key responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical advice and consultancy on GIS and geospatial solutions
  • Deliver GIS and digital projects, products, and services to meet business needs
  • Manage and analyse spatial data, producing high-quality maps, datasets, and reports
  • Develop and maintain geospatial databases and data standards
  • Build and deploy automated workflows and tools using GIS platforms and scripting
  • Develop documentation, user guides, and training materials
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the team
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, ethical practice, and relevant policies
About you

You are a skilled geospatial professional with strong technical capability and the ability to translate complex spatial data into practical, user-focused solutions. You bring a proactive, collaborative approach and enjoy working in fast-paced project environments.
 
Mandatory requirements
  • Tertiary qualification (minimum 3-year degree) in Spatial Science (GIS) or equivalent
  • Current Class C driver’s licence
  • Ability to undertake a criminal history check
 
Highly regarded experience
  • Professional experience in GIS or related roles
  • Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, FME, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Python scripting, Model Builder, AWS CLI, AutoCAD, or 12D
  • Professional membership or certification with a recognised geospatial body

This is a 12 month assignment with view to extension. Rate negotiable from $97.66 + super based on experience. Brisbane CBD or Buderim locations available.
