About the Role:
Are you passionate about supporting Australia’s justice system? We are seeking a motivated Legal Support Officer to join our Legal Support Services team in Canberra. In this role, you’ll provide a broad range of administrative and litigation support services to legal practice groups, helping deliver high-quality outcomes for the community.
You’ll work closely with the Coordinator, Legal Support Services, and use digital litigation tools and business systems to support the analysis, management, and presentation of large and complex cases. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic, inclusive, and friendly team environment.

The Legal Support Services team works in partnership with colleagues across enabling services to support prosecutors in legal practice groups. The team’s main focus is the coordination and delivery of a broad range of administrative and litigation support services in accordance with national service offers, operational requirements, and performance standards. Key Responsibilities
- Provide efficient and contemporary administrative support to legal practice groups
- Create and manage case files, handle photocopying, filing, data entry, and records management
- Draft emails, routine correspondence, and documents from templates
- Coordinate witnesses, draft summons/subpoenas, arrange travel and other court-related tasks
- Prepare court materials, undertake deliveries and collections, and lodge/file documentation
- Conduct basic research, arrange video conferencing, interpreters, and translators
- Liaise with prosecutors, external agencies, courts, and counsel
- Collaborate with business areas, promote teamwork, and contribute to broader organisational objectives
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Australian Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain AGSVA Baseline security clearance
- Experience or aptitude in delivering support services in a government and/or legal environment (desirable)
- Sound oral and written communication skills
- Strong research and analysis skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and develop positive stakeholder relationships
- A current driver's license and vehicle
