Job description

  • Federal Government opportunity in Sydney CBD
  • Contract until April 2024
  • $58- $65 per hour+ super
The Australian Government has established a National Royal Commission to enquire into, and support the prevention of, the deaths associated with serving ADF. This commission is a key priority for the government.

The Role
Reporting to the Director of the Veteran Services organisations and State and Territory Governments policy team, the responsibilities include working within a small team to deliver high quality:
  • Research
  • Policy development
  • Reporting
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and write high quality, well-structured content for issues papers and the interim and final report dealing with organisations and the role of State and Territory Governments in Veteran Services and support.
  • Provide policy input and support in preparation for hearing blocks, roundtables and other consultation mechanisms.
  • Undertake research and participate in consultation to support development of background papers and the final report.
  • Work collaboratively across the Royal Commission, including working with other policy teams, community engagement and legal areas.
  • Contribute personal expertise and experiences to the projects across the Commission. This may come from other reports you have taken apart of previously.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar role and relevant qualifications to the position.
  • Excellent research, analysis and project management skills, ability to use initiative and prioritise tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, strong communication and writing skills.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Upholds safe work practices and APS Values and Code of Conduct and Royal Commission behaviours.
  • Manages own time effectively to accomplish tasks, monitoring task completion against milestones.
  • Travel may be required for this role.
