About the role

The successful applicant will play a key leadership role, working with various internal and external stakeholders to design, write, deliver and evaluate the exercise program. We are seeking a forward thinking and passionate experienced emergency response manager who can deliver on a number of priority activities and policies to support the branch.

The role includes:
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders on exercise scope and identifying opportunities for alignment between work programs.
  • Working with relevant stakeholders to plan the exercise series.
  • Developing exercise plans and documentation such as an exercise schedule and injects.
  • Developing exercise evaluation plans and tools.
  • Organising exercise delivery logistics.
  • Working collaboratively with other exercise personnel such as the facilitator.
  • Providing leadership and direction to the exercise team.
  • Reporting to executive and governance committee.
  • Developing exercise strategies which may include, but not limited to, risk management, media and an observer program.
  • Providing budget oversight.
Skills and Experience

MUST hold a baseline clearance 


We are looking for people with a range of backgrounds and skills who enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment to deliver a high priority program in a time sensitive manner.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team and getting the best out of people.
  • Experience in multi-tasking, working under pressure and ability to coordinate work priorities with demanding timeframes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to form and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
  • Emergency preparedness exercise development and delivery skills is highly desirable or skills that could be considered transferable (such as, but not limited to; evaluation, facilitation, training development, project management, event management)
  • Experience or knowledge of emergency management principles and preparedness is desirable.
  • Experience in program delivery.
  • Strong research, analysis, and synthesis skills.
