Job description

Brisbane based Federal government department are seeking a number of experienced Project Managers to join The Digital and Service Design branch. The team support the implementation of digital transformation initiatives that enable the government’s vision of a modern, connected healthcare system that ensures all Australia can access the care they need, when and where they need it.

Project Managers within the branch will be responsible for managing the delivery of one or more projects within the larger transformation program and support the planning for short, medium and long-term strategies.

While the projects to be undertaken are digital initiatives, the technology component is only one aspect of each project. Successful Project Managers should be ‘all rounders’ who have a passion, knowledge and experience to manage all aspects inherent in implementing government initiatives including policy, legislative, strategic, operational and technical aspects of each project.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Actively engaging with and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
  • Developing project initiation documents, outlining project objectives, scope and deliverables
  • Efficiently planning and identifying project priorities, dependencies and critical path to ensure smooth project execution
  • Developing and maintaining essential project artefacts including RACI and keeping all documentation up to date
  • Actively managing risks, issues and dependencies to mitigate potential challenges through the project lifecycle
  • Providing general administrative and project support to facilitate seamless project operations
To be considered for this role you will be established in your field and have knowledge of healthcare systems and the government landscape. You will have demonstrated experience in managing digital initiatives and policy implementation using best practice methodologies, while working in collaboration with delivery partners and stakeholders, and ensure outcomes that put people at the centre of everything you do.

Roles are available at both EL1 & EL2 equivalent and determined based on experience. EL1 casual rate commences from $74.63, and EL2 rate commences from $89 per hour (+ super).

Australian Citizenship is ESSENTIAL to be considered for this role as is the ability to obtain and maintain a national criminal history police check.
