Job description

DFP Recruitment Perth are seeking a Project Manager to work with our Federal Government client who are Australia's national weather, climate and water agency that that touches the lives of all Australians and the country as a nation, every day. The initial assignment is for 10 months, with a view to extend up to two times at 6 months at a time. There is an open daily rate based on your experience and the position is working from home until 28th August 2022 with a view to returning to office three days a week and full time in office when appropriate.
Please note, you have to be an Australian Citizen to be considered for this opportunity. You will also have to have the ability to obtain (at the clients expense) a baseline security clearance should one be required during the tenure of this appointment.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Projectisation Program is a multi-year transformation program that will define and implement enhanced portfolio management discipline, culture, roles and responsibilities, and tools, bringing together the people, process, and systems to be used by the client to describe and undertake its work and maximise impact and value. It will allow the client to be responsive to emerging strategic priorities and will enable delivery commitments to be met with the right people working on the right activity at the right time.
The Projectisation Program will deliver five key elements: - A full strategic and operational review of the clients end-to-end value chain with a focus on ensuring consistency and transparency across the organisation. - A projectised view of all the clients work, ensuring that all work is visible and aligned to the clients Strategy and strategic planning documents. - A governed and maintained system (end-to-end value chain) to support planning, investment decision making, and different delivery approaches within. - Uplifted delivery execution through an improved portfolio management capability and greater performance visibility and accountability cascaded through organisational strategy and Group and Program Plans. - A solution that supports client-wide demand management with increased transparency around resource capacity and capabilities. These elements will be delivered under six Program Initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY
The Project Manager will be expected to operate as part of the Projectisation Program team and adhere to a common program framework, including standard approaches to scheduling, finances, and planning. The Project Manager will take responsibility for the delivery of their assigned projects, manage project constraints, risks and issues, and work with program staff to support organisational change management and communications.


To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, you will need to respond to each criteria below in a cover letter:

  • Previous project management roles in both the establishment and delivery of technology projects and/or programs.
  • Demonstrated achievement of project delivery, managing scope, budget, schedule, and expectations in projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with technically complex projects requiring multiple system interfaces and engagement across multiple business areas;
  • Strong portfolio financial management acumen, particularly in the context of enterprise investment pipeline and budget prioritisation;
  • Ability to flex communication style and approach as needed to engage, influence, manage conflict, and facilitate outcomes that are in the interest of the Program.
  • Good working knowledge of portfolio management, program management and project management methodologies and approaches;
  • Proven ability to resolve issues by applying critical thinking and taking initiative;
  • Demonstrated approach which is pragmatic, flexible, self-aware, and results driven;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent technical domain knowledge in particular the design, integration, and operationalisation of a Portfolio Management System
