Job description

Our state government client is seeking a Traffic Management Officer for an initial 6-month contract with high possibility of extension in their Perth CBD office. The successful candidates will be provided with ongoing training to develop their existing traffic and transportation knowledge, along with their technical capabilities.

Rate: $40-50 per hour plus Super (candidates submitted at the rate of their choosing based on relevant experience)
Location: Perth CBD
Hours: Full-time (38 hours per week)
Duration: 6 months with high likelihood of extension

Type: Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlement – casual loading included in role)

ROLE: Traffic Management Officer (also referred to as a Route Management Support Officer)

DUTIES:
  • Provide technical support to Route Managers in the development of measures to improve less complex route performance and optimisation strategies.
  • Monitor the operation of traffic signal settings, utilising SCATS (Sydney Co-ordinated Adaptive Traffic System).
  • Provide technical support in the design, implementation, review, and optimisation of traffic signal timing to improve traffic efficiency.
  • Analyse performance data and reports; and monitor route performance to provide assistance in identifying deficiencies and determining potential interventions to improve route performance for all road users.
  • Data analysis and basic traffic modelling
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, OR EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL:
  • Understanding of the traffic and transportation sector.
  • Sound skill, knowledge, and experience in the use of computer tools including systems and technical data for analysis.
  • Sound skill, knowledge and experience in building and enhancing stakeholder relationships.
  • Previous knowledge of SCATS desirable but not required.
DESIRABLE:
  • Understanding of the road traffic signalling systems.
  • A diploma in Engineering, or Computer Systems, or other relevant discipline.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening required prior to commencement.
  • National Police Clearance dated within 3 months.
  • Full working rights within Australia.
