About the Team
The Media, Marketing and Digital Communication Branch works to enhance the Agency’s reputation with a focus on participants.
The high-profile Media and Ministerial team builds and protects the Agency's reputation through strategic media, issues and reputation management. The team’s work supports Agency objectives through media monitoring, analysis and using data to identify proactive opportunities for spokespeople to reinforce key messages to targeted audiences.
Cultivating productive working relationships is key, including with journalists, Senior Executives, other government departments and the Minister’s office. The team directly supports the Minister’s office with media materials, speeches, briefings and updates.

About the Role
The APS6 Senior Media and Speechwriting Officer will apply an understanding of the media and political landscape to deliver high-quality advice, support and direction across the Agency and external stakeholders. You will apply strategic nous in developing reactive and proactive media strategies to further the Agency’s overarching objectives. You will be an effective, innovative thinker who builds trust and respect, including working closely with the Minister’s office. You will understand the Agency priorities and the Minister’s ‘voice’ to develop strategic and well-crafted speeches for public engagements.
You will relish the challenge of operating in a complex and changing environment. Your media and speechwriting skills will be complemented by sound judgement, resilience and integrity.
The position is expected to perform in a fast-paced environment under limited direction to undertake complex work.

The APS6 Senior Media and Speechwriting Officer will relish in collaborative environments and be a team player. 
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing relationships and building strong networks and connections with internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on journalists, the Minister’s office and senior stakeholders.
  • Producing media and other communications products, including media releases, talking points and media plans to support announcements.
  • Drafting strategic, targeted and tailored speeches for the Minister in diverse fora.
  • Identifying proactive opportunities for the Agency spokespeople and/or the Minister to engage with media.
  • Analysing media sentiment and data, and interpreting results to further strategic engagement.
  • Undertaking a wide variety of general tasks as required, including but not limited to, managing team priorities, providing support for reporting, analytics and executive reporting and presentations.
