About the Organisation
 
This large Federal department is responsible for implementation and consultation within the community to support the progress of many large-scale projects Australia-wide
 
About the role

This section is responsible for managing all aspects of the FOI obligations and processes within the department.

As part of the FOI team, you will be responsible for:
  • case managing FOI requests, including liaison with and provision of support and advice to FOI decision makers and action officers
  • preparing draft FOI decisions, complex correspondence and briefs
  • maintaining an FOI database and ensure accurate statistical data is maintained for various reporting purposes
  • managing periodic updates of the department's FOI policies, processes and guidelines
  • assisting with education and guidance for our staff regarding their FOI responsibilities
  • representing the department at FOI forums
  • proposing and facilitating innovation initiatives, and contributing to business improvement strategies
  • supervising and managing a team (EL1 level)
Skills and Experience
 
Applicants MUST have a baseline clearance to be eligible for this position
  • an interest in corporate governance and knowledge of and experience with processing FOI requests in accordance with the legislation
  • integrity, good judgement and professionalism
  • demonstrated coordination and organisational skills including the ability to deliver outcomes within prescribed timeframes while managing competing priorities
  • the ability to communicate with impact and influence, including the ability to tailor language and advice to different audiences
  • effective stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to collaborate across teams and build effective working relationships
  • willingness and ability to work in a small, fast-paced team
  • demonstrated working knowledge of the obligations and processes required of agencies under the FOI Act
  • strong written and oral communication skills
  • supervisory/managerial experience essential
