Our client is seeking a professional Legal Support Officer to provide administrative and paralegal support to Public Defenders and senior staff. This role will serve as the first point of contact at reception, manage court bookings, support legal documentation, and ensure smooth office operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage reception desk, incoming calls, mail, deliveries, and visitor coordination.
- Organise Audio Visual Link (AVL) bookings for court appearances and client contact.
- Provide basic paralegal support: typing, tabbing, printing, transcribing, proofreading, and preparing briefs.
- Assist Chambers Manager and line manager with finance, IT, projects, and events, including the annual criminal law conference.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in CASES (case management system).
- Arrange travel for Public Defenders, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Provide basic IT troubleshooting and support for staff.
- Experience in the criminal law sector or relevant transferable skills.
- Paralegal experience is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with office technology.
- Excellent communication and professional demeanor.
