Canberra Receptionist (Part-time, APS 3 equivalent)

An Australian Government organisation is seeking a professional and reliable Canberra-based Receptionist to join a small, collaborative Facilities team in a job-share arrangement.
This part-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys being the first point of contact, takes pride in providing excellent service, and can adapt easily in a fast-paced office environment.
About the role:
Working as the afternoon receptionist, you will deliver front-of-house services Monday to Friday, 12.30 pm – 5.00 pm (22.5 hours per week). You will help ensure a welcoming, professional environment for staff, visitors and contractors, while also supporting reception services across multiple office locations.
In addition to reception duties, you will assist with a range of Facilities-related tasks, including basic research and minor administrative support for office equipment and stationery procurement. Flexibility to cover morning shifts during leave or unexpected absences is highly regarded.

Key responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality reception and front-of-house services
- Answer and manage incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner
- Interpret enquiries and direct callers to the appropriate area
- Greet visitors, notify staff of arrivals and issue temporary security passes
- Escort contractors and tradespersons within office premises
- Ensure compliance with security and visitor protocols
- Process incoming and outgoing mail
- Assist with minor procurement activities through research and administrative support
- Is flexible, adaptable and self-motivated
- Enjoys identifying and resolving issues as they arise
- Builds positive, professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- Takes responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work independently
- Demonstrates professionalism, discretion and strong communication skills
- Previous experience in a reception, facilities or customer service role
