Job Title: Senior Metering Technician
Employer: DFP Recruitment client
Position Type: Full Time Permanent Contract
Pay Rate: $126k - $140k (Including Super)
Location: Bentley, WA 6102
Role Overview: Reporting to the Metering Services Manager, the Senior Metering Technician is responsible for provision of expert metering technical support as part of the metering technical services functional group within the metering services team and providing technical leadership as a senior technician.
 
Key Responsibilities; 
  • Carry out complex metering activities including site assessments, audits and inspections of metering installations for compliance on metering engineering design, network design, Technical Rules, Metering Code and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Install and Inspect LV & HV CT Metering Installations (large customers) for both exchanges and new connection, to ensure the revenue and reputation of the client is protected at all times
  • Accurately complete commissioning checks on all new connection for HV CT metering (and LV CT metering as required) to ensure the revenue and reputation of the client is protected at all times
  • Provide senior technical support of metering Systems and Hardware.
  • Provide technical input into metering systems design development and reviews.
  • Provide technical input into development of new metering systems architectures, standards and philosophies.
  • To be the Subject matter expert on metering regulations, standards and practices by maintaining a full understanding of the client’s Network connections requirements, WA Electrical Requirements, AS/NZS Wiring Rules, Metering Code, Metrology Procedure, Australian Standards (Meters and Transformers) and other related standards and cascading these to the field personnel within the group.
  • Development of meter programs to meet the business needs.
  • Plan and / or arrange implementation of all HV CT metering works and assist with LV CT work as required, including communications technology, in the client’s networks.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement process for all of the metering service field training packages for CT LV & HV installations, communications technologies installations, and associated works.
  • Complete meter testing within the guidelines developed and in line with the Australian Standards.
  • Ensure all works are completed within all legislative, code and safety requirements.
  • Facilitate the research and development of new metering technologies and monitor the testing and evaluation of meter and accessories to achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Provide leadership as a senior member of the metering services team.
  • Ensure all systems transactions are completed within all legislative, code and safety requirements.
  • Remain up to date with all metering systems and safety practices.
 
 Essential to be successful in this role;
  • 10+ years post trade experience with development, design, implementation, integration and maintenance of a wide range of metering systems and supporting infrastructure.
  • 5+ years experience with advanced metering infrastructure.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.
  • Must work well in a collaborative, cross functional team environment.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical utility operations
  • Thorough understanding of engineering processes and practices.
  • Thorough understanding of metering industry regulations and standards
  • Thorough understanding of electrical schematic diagrams and drawings.
  • Thorough understanding of metering systems, services and infrastructure.
