Our client:
Our client, a reputable large government organisation is seeking enthusiastic Freedom of Information (FOI) Officers to join their team. This role presents an excellent opportunity to support the coordination of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and Participant Information Access (PIA) requests, ensuring compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
 
Position Overview
Are you a seasoned professional with a passion for governance, compliance, and stakeholder engagement? Our client is seeking an experienced APS6 Governance, Outreach, and FOI Delegate to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 while spearheading outreach initiatives to enhance understanding within the organization.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a key FOI delegate, overseeing internal and IC reviews, and ensuring the accurate processing of complex FOI matters in alignment with the FOI Act.
  • Develop and refine SOPs, policies, and governance documents to foster consistent decision-making across the team.
  • Conduct training sessions and outreach initiatives to promote awareness of FOI and PIA responsibilities within the organization and among stakeholders.
  • Prepare comprehensive materials, including briefing documents, reports, and correspondence for senior stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of systems, processes, and tools to support FOI and PIA handling and awareness.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally.
 
Experience required:
  • Demonstrated experience in FOI decision-making and review processes, preferably within a government agency or similar environment
  • Experience in developing governance documents, SOPs, policies, or similar materials is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a knack for engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment while effectively managing priorities and workflows.
  • Knowledge of government processes and regulations, particularly in relation to FOI and PIA, is highly advantageous.
