The Opportunity

On behalf of a Federal Government Agency based in Richmond we are looking for APS6 Strategic Communications Officer. This is a 12-month assignment. The role will paying $60.26 per hour plus super.

Working in the Marketing Communications Branch, the Communications Officer is responsible for providing strategic advice and support to the stakeholders to support the internal and external communications and engagement activity.

Responsibilities include:
  • Championing plain English and ensure all collateral is accessible and aligns to the agency style and branding guidelines.
  • Leading through example, serving as a trusted communications expert, helping key internal stakeholders and business partners deliver the objectives of each project.
  • Drafting clear, concise, and effective messaging for different audiences, including creation of talking points and speeches
  • Contributing towards the development and delivery of different communications plans, progressing approvals and coordination of go-live collateral.
  • Evaluating the impact of communications, identifying any future learnings, and determining whether the identified objectives for each project have been achieved.
  • Supporting team members with administration, technical and procedural tasks.
To be considered you will demonstrate:
  • Previous experience in a Communications role
  • Copy writing in plain English
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Stakeholder management expertise
  • Lived experience of disability, worked within the disability sector, or understand disability concepts will be highly desirable.
