About the role
 
You will work on policy development and the delivery of programs relating to the uptake of new vehicle technology in Australia. Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
  • analysis and providing expert advice on technical areas and strategic advice to assist the team develop and draft policy on electric vehicles and other future fuels
  • analysis and advice on the incorporation of new technologies in the road freight sector
  • assisting with the development of a Future Fuels Strategy
  • project planning and management of projects relating to transport, hydrogen vehicles, biofuels and electric vehicles
  • internal and external stakeholder engagement
  • supervision of an APS6 contractor.
Skills and Experience
 
Applicants MUST have an active baseline clearance to be eligible for this position.
 
Our ideal candidate will have:
  • background in policy development or Government program implementation
  • experience engaging with industry stakeholders
  • ability to manage a variety of competing priorities, and work independently to meet deadlines
  • strong strategic thinking skills
  • hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or commensurate qualifications and experience.
Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
  • emerging technology in heavy vehicles for road freight
  • electric vehicles, their uptake in Australia, issues relating to their uptake, such as impacts on the electricity network, and policy measures relating to electric vehicles
  • transport applications of hydrogen, including projected uptake, and implications for transport.
