About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Ministerial and Government Communications Officer to support the Network Operations Directorate in managing high-level communications with government stakeholders. This role is critical in ensuring timely, accurate, and strategic responses to ministerial and organisational communications, including those that are complex and sensitive in nature.
As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, your work will directly influence how the Directorate is represented across government forums, parliamentary processes, and public communications. Your ability to craft clear, informed, and impactful messaging will help shape policy discussions, support executive decision-making, and uphold the organisation’s reputation at the highest levels.

Key Responsibilities
- Research, write, and prepare responses to ministerial and business communications.
- Provide expert advice to the Executive Director and senior leaders on communication protocols and procedures.
- Analyse and prepare information for complex and sensitive ministerial matters.
- Draft initial responses and input for ministerial correspondence, briefing notes, contentious issues, speech notes, media statements, parliamentary questions, and executive-level communications.
- Coordinate updates to agency briefing notes for Budget Estimates Hearings, Cabinet meetings, and other government requirements.
- Prepare responses to parliamentary inquiries and committee questions related to the Directorate.
- Proven experience in writing for government and ministerial audiences.
- Strong research, analytical, and organisational skills.
- High-level written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Content Manager (TRIM) or similar document management systems.
