We are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Procurement Specialist to join a forward-thinking and collaborative local council in Western Sydney. About the Role:

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for ensuring value for money contracts is established within the diverse range of projects including projects of significant value and community benefit. The role ensures compliance for tendering and contract activities undertaken in accordance with legislative requirements, Government guidelines and Councils policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with preparing Requests for Tender, Quotations, and Expressions of Interest to achieve Council objectives.
  • Review contract documents to ensure value for money.
  • Manage special projects and maintain procurement Quality Management documents.
  • Recommend process and service improvements as part of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance and probity in tendering and contract management.
  • Independently prepare and release procurement documents, facilitate evaluations, and lead panels according to Council methodology.
  • Prepare contract documents and assist with post-tender debriefs.
  • Manage risk, ensure legislative compliance, and seek innovative procurement solutions.
  • Handle negotiations, resolve issues, and manage confidential matters in procurement activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and operate within approved delegations and probity frameworks.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or Cert IV/Diploma in Government Procurement and Contracting or demonstrated similar experience.
  • Current NSW driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
  • Understanding of Local Government Act 1993 and related tendering regulations.
  • Proficient in electronic tendering, contract systems, and evaluation software.
  • Knowledge of market approaches, tendering, and quotations in a government context.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, verbal communication, and report writing skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, market research, and clear presentation of viewpoints.
  • Experience in managing tendering processes, from RFQs to contract award, including report preparation.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, delivering favorable outcomes.
  • Strong organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills.
  • Advanced teamwork and leadership skills, providing quality support to team members.
