Work Health and Safety Specialist – Labour Hire
  • 6-month Contract with 2 x 6 Month Extensions

About the role
My client requires a Work Health and Safety Specialist to assist with the implementation of the key strategic objectives and initiatives outlined in the newly drafted Work Health and Safety (WHS) strategy. The WHS strategy and proposed implementation plan emphasises the importance of developing robust management systems as part of its growth, adaptation, and exclusivity within the broader Australian Government and Defence portfolios.
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accountable for providing leadership, direction and technical control of the relevant specialist work health and safety function to ensure a high-level of integration and consistency.
  • Accountable for managing and leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.
  • Accountable for managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
  • Uses specialist expertise to provide advice and mentoring and technical instruction on the development of the specialist work health and safety capability.
  • Advise on very complex specialist work health and safety matters.
  • Represent and communicate the activities of the relevant specialist work health and safety function within external and internal stakeholder forums.
  • Engage and influence senior leadership on specialist work health and safety matters.
  • Assess trends in specialist work health and safety performance to identify high risk areas and design remediation strategies.
  • Establish sustainable specialist work health and safety strategies and policies that extend to very complex issues, which may not have established precedents or guidelines.
Job Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong leadership experience and skills with regard to Work Health and Safety.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and time management skills.
  • Experience managing complex projects.

  • Must hold Australian citizenship.
  • Must hold an NV1 Clearance
