DFP Recruitment are partnering with Empact Group.

We are seeking applications from those who care about supporting government clients to deliver impact for the Australian community.

We have a range of Grant Assessment roles open now, and more on the horizon!

Who are we?

Empact Group is a values-driven consultancy offering meaningful work in an environment where every team member’s contribution is valued and celebrated. We are evolving and innovating as we grow, in ways that drive our purpose of ‘Empower to Act’.
We offer our services primarily to Federal Government and Higher Education for now, including across:

🎯 Strategy and Business Planning
🎯 Business Improvement and Organisational Change
🎯 Project Advisory and Management
🎯 Training, Coaching and Facilitation

Cutting across these themes is our Grants Administration as a Service capability.

We work with government clients to support them through Design, Select, Establish, Manage and Evaluate phases of the grants lifecycle. This can be in a range of ways, for example: we help design grant rounds that enable impactful outcomes, co-develop evaluation documentation, provide specialist assessment workforce members, through to support in setting up contracts and monitoring guidance.

What can you help us solve now?

We are seeking short, medium and longer term grant assessment team members to help us on some immediate and emerging grant rounds.
Our highly competent Grant Assessment Teams play an important role in supporting robust government grant funding decisions, leading to impactful outcomes for sectors supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

What are we looking for?

We have three broad levels of grant assessors:
  1. Senior Grant Assessors
  2. Grant Assessors
  3. Grant Administrators
These roles differ primarily in terms of experience, autonomy, and the ability to manage complex grants and environments.

We need people who can:
  • Work independently, under broad direction, to analyse and solve complex problems related to eligibility and compliance of grant applications against Grant Opportunity Guidelines (GOGs)
  • Complete assessment of grant applications against GOGs, including considering supporting information such as selection criteria responses, financial statements, payroll reports and capital or building plans
  • Follow standard processes and quality expectations to meet set key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide succinct and clear summaries of assessment outcome justifications
  • Manage correspondence through shared mailboxes using standard words
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews (as required)
Key Capabilities
  • Proven ability to work in a team under limited supervision and deliver high quality outcomes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in grant, program or procurement assessment, management, and/or evaluation
  • Familiarity with government policies and regulations related to grant funding and program management
  • Exceptional attention to detail as well as good problem-solving, analytical and research skills
  • Ability to use initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and application of procedures
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn new systems
Types of Roles and Ways of working:

Our teams are across Australia, working mainly from home or for those in Canberra partly on-site, with support from our Canberra headquarters team.
Immediate roles to be filled are on a short to mid-term basis commencing from September 2024. However we anticipate several grant opportunities requiring support, which will allow us to consider a range of engagement options for the right team members, including:
  • Short, mid and longer term Contract agreements
  • Casual arrangements
  • Non-ongoing employment
  • Permanent employment (limited positions)
Work hours are flexible between 7am and 7pm. Part-time arrangements may be considered, subject to grant requirements with full availability for onboarding and training when commencing on a new assessment process.

Engagement Process:

Short-listed applicants will be asked to:
  • Participate in 1-2 interview conversations.
  • Undertake a short online activity to simulate an assessment.
  • Provide referee details.
Examples of transferable skills and experience:

We welcome applicants with grants administration experience and encourage those with transferable skills to apply. The below list is a sample of some of the experiences and jobs that we have seen transfer well to grants assessment:
  • Commonwealth or State/Territory grants assessment
  • Procurement Officer or Administrator
  • Project Coordinator

  • Program Officer
  • Compliance Officer
  • Legal Assistant or Paralegal
  • Quality Assurance Specialist
