Job description

DFP Perth are seeking a Finance and Legal Service officer to engage in a temporary contract for 12 months with our State Government client based in Perth  

Start Date: October 2024 - 12 month contract

Location: Perth CBD

Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week  

Salary Range: $45-$55p/h +super

The Finance and Legal Service Officer is a member of the Finance Branch and is the system administrator for recording the provision of legal services by the Office. 

Position Responsibilities:

Legal Service Charges
  • Contributes to the monthly legal service charges including timely and accurate invoicing processing and monitors the return of payments and associated credit adjustments
  • Costs legal matters for clients pursuant to the appropriate scale of costs.
  • Ensures the timely reconciliation of the clearing account for disbursements.
  • Contributes to resolving all enquires related to legal service charges
  • Responsible for the ongoing development of the system and practices related to legal service charges (i.e. updating the policies and procedures)
Accounting, Budget Management and Reporting:
  • Amends transactions to ensure general ledger accounts, tax codes and other coding are correctly recorded in Financial System.
  • Ensures the timely reconciliation of the FP clearing account
  • Assists in the maintenance of the FlexiPurchase (FP) Card system function, including issuing, access, card and holder details and misuse recording.
  • Extracts transactions from FP and upload into Financial System.
  • Ensures the timely reconciliation of the FP clearing account
  • Monitors and reports on legal service charges.
  • Assists in the review of the Office's fees and charges.
  • Provides a range of statistical reports.
  • Assists the Principal Finance Officer in reconciling and clearing transactions from clearing accounts
  • Follows up outstanding debtors
Key skills required: 
  • Well-developed understanding of, and broad experience in, management of costs and expenditure good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • A high level of attention to detail and experience in the administration of financial systems.
  • Ability to prioritise and coordinate activities and meet deadlines
  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, business management field or a relevant discipline (desirable)
