Our client was established 25 years ago as an independent statutory authority that supervises institutions across banking, insurance and superannuation, and is accountable to the Australian Parliament.
 
The Role

The Audit Manager provides audit, assurance and advisory services across the organisation as a third line representative, with primary focus on executing on the Rolling Internal Audit Plan (Plan).
 
Key accountabilities will include:
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and execution of AAA Plan.
  • Perform the planning, delivery and reporting of audit, assurance and advisory engagements assigned across the organisation with a potential heavier weighting in relation to Technology, Data and Change subject matters.
  • Document findings in a clear and concise manner and offer practical and actionable recommendations for the areas under review.
  • For co-sourced reviews, manage external consultants to deliver on agreed scope objectives.
  • Monitor and assure on managements implementation of action plans, including advising the executive on issue management, and risk acceptance/ buy down.
  • Business partnering with key stakeholders within the allocated portfolio, to better understand the business’ goals, objectives, and strategies.
  • Prepare reports and present on audit findings at Management & Governance Committees.
  • Maintain high personal standards in the timely completion of quality deliverables.
  • Ensure an up-to-date understanding of strategic direction, in the context of AAA’s responsibilities.
  • Lead and deliver elements of AAA’s internal initiatives, to assist the function in achieving its strategic ambition.
  • Steer through ambiguity, modelling inclusive leadership behaviours and instilling an open culture within the team, where divergent views are shared and respected.
Knowledge and experience required for effective performance:
  • +5 years of work experience in audit or risk management with proven ability to lead activities independently and proactively, such as an audit process, from planning through to report writing.
  • Relevant tertiary degree and professional qualifications (e.g. IIA, CISA, CA / CPA or other project, risk, and IT credentials).
  • Sound knowledge of frameworks in risk management, compliance, and/or quality assurance.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to advise Senior internal / external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
  • Desirable experience in the Financial Services industry or working experience within a regulator/ enforcement organisation.
  • Experience in project, data and technology would also be highly desirable.
