Our state government client is seeking an experienced Laboratory Coordinator for an initial 2-month contract in their Perth Airport location.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within a laboratory and be familiar with lab terminology, as well as experience in a logistics or operational coordinator position.
Title: Laboratory Coordinator
Rate: $40-52 per hour plus Super (depending on skills and suitability of the role)
Start: ASAP
End: 30th November 2024 (may or may not be extended )
Duration: 2 months (approx.)
Hours: Full-time – 37.5 hours per week
Location: Perth Airport
Type: Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in rate)

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and manage day-to-day activities of laboratory staff to ensure laboratory operations are running effectively.
- Actively participate in the management of laboratory personnel, including contract management, onboarding, checking safety and compliance certification, etc.
- Contribute to the planning and timetabling of laboratory activities.
- Establish and maintain safety documentation such as risk assessments, safety audits and standard operating procedures for laboratory activities.
- Maintain stock, including the storage and handling of hazardous substances in accordance with legislative guidelines.
- Maintain currency of knowledge for all relevant state and industry-based regulations, legislation and policies and procedures.
- Previous experience in a laboratory / familiar with laboratory terminology.
- Previous experience in a logistics or operational coordinator role.
- Knowledge of OHS policies, procedures and legislation.
- Previous experience with HR activities such as employment contracts, onboarding and compliance documentation.
- Strong attention to detail

- Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word and Excel
- Strong communication skills in verbal and written
- Ability to build rapport with colleagues and stakeholders and work collaboratively as a team
- Strong planning, organisational and time management skills
- Analysis and problem solving

- Ability to work flexible hours as directed
- Current National Police Clearance or ability to obtain if successful
- Willing to undergo medical check
