The Opportunity
This Assistant Director role sits in the Service Guidance and Practice Branch, which is responsible for presenting Federal Government’s policy, improvements and system enhancements in clear operational guidelines. This guidance enables front line staff to make consistent decisions and clients to have choice and control over their lives.
The branch also develops content for clients and external stakeholders to support their guidelines, including letters, forms, factsheets and guides to what the Agency does and does not fund.
The position requires the ability to resolve issues and risks across a broad range of activities of substantial depth and significant detail. The role requires providing support to the team leadership of their work area in the planning and coordination of the team.
The EL1 Assistant Director is required to coordinate and assume responsibility to undertake detailed or sensitive projects that may include performing varied activities involving many different and unrelated processes or methods that may impact on the strategic or operational outcomes that support the Agency’s objectives.
This is a 12-month assignment, working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week with a payrate of $602.55 per day plus super. This role is based in the Adelaide CBD although some work from home may be available. You must hold Australian Citizenship at the time of applying.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
- Comfortable leading a team and be responsible for the coaching and mentoring of staff.
- Initiating, establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders to develop collaborative guidance to support service delivery.
- Providing strategic advice about the key stages of the participant pathway, specific participant cohorts and technical processes within SAP CRM and business system requirements.
- providing support to drive business improvement in access and planning processes including expert advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Raising awareness of critical issues to senior management through regular management reporting to senior NDIA management.
- Providing effective leadership to a small team of staff delivering Agency Guidelines, letters and knowledge articles.
- Prioritising completing priorities and provide advice to the Agency’s executive team about overall team capacity, scope of work and progress against key deliverables.
- Providing considered advice to multi-disciplinary teams and the Agency’s executive, Board, Minister and other Australian Government Departments in a timely manner.
