A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Content Strategist (EL1 equivalent) to support a major transformation initiative within a high-profile government agency. This position will play a key role in driving strategic internal communication activities across complex programs of work. This contract has potential for a 12-month extension.
About the Role: The Content Strategist will lead the development and execution of user-focused communication strategies across digital and print channels. This includes creating high-quality, accessible content aligned with agency objectives, stakeholder needs, and Australian Government style standards. The role involves working collaboratively across internal teams and contributing to meaningful organisational change through clear and effective messaging.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan and implement strategic, multi-channel communication activities
- Create, edit and refine a variety of content including intranet pages, newsletters, fact sheets, flyers, presentations, video scripts and talking points
- Ensure all communication materials align with agency and Australian Government style guidelines
- Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to understand needs and deliver targeted messaging
- Conduct discovery sessions to assess communication requirements and recommend solutions
- Monitor communication effectiveness using both qualitative and quantitative insights
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in communication processes
- Proven experience in developing and delivering user-centred communication strategies
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to simplify complex or technical information
- Experience working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams and managing diverse stakeholder relationships
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams
- Experience in managing intranet content and applying user-centred design principles
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to meet competing deadlines
- Basic proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop)
- Ability to develop and/or edit HTML
- Experience with photography, videography and content editing tools
- Communication support experience within change management environments on medium to large-scale projects
- Australian citizenship is mandatory
- Candidates must be eligible to obtain Baseline security clearance
