This Government Agency sits within a prominent Federal Government Department with offices located in the city. They contribute to the Nation’s prosperity through trade and investment in business, the growth of Australia’s tourism and education sectors.
 
About the role 
An exciting opportunity to collaborate, design and deliver whole-of-government outcomes. The role is unique in scope, with the opportunity to work across and bring together a broad suite of skills, including strategic policy, regulatory reform, data and digital strategy, human-centred design, business engagement, program management, and corporate support.
 
As the Portfolio Project Manager, you’ll be engaged on an initial 6-month contract with a possible extension up to 12 months as determined by the Agency. As part of a Taskforce, you’ll work with business and across all levels of government to deliver the most significant whole-of-government cross-border reforms in this area in more than a decade. Through effective project management this work will deliver regulatory, process and ICT systems reforms which will deliver value to both business and Government over the short, medium, and longer terms.
 
Key Deliverables:
  • Lead the oversight and coordination of a portfolio of programmes and work with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives and timelines are met.
  • Provide subject matter expert advice, using contemporary project management tools, practices to ensure efficient and effective delivery of projects.
  • Foster stakeholder relationships, collaboration, and communication to ensure projects are aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Develop and contribute to executive reporting briefs with analytical and problem-solving skills to achieve outcomes and support decisions.
  • Lead the compliance and auditing of portfolio risks, issues, with sensitivity under limited guidance.
 
About you 
You’ll bring your track record in successful Portfolio Project Management, and experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and project sponsors in a highly cross functional environment to deliver successful outcomes- on time and within budget.
 
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Formal qualifications and/or a minimum of 5 years’ experience with portfolio management and governance frameworks, supported by best practice with regards to the program and project methodologies. This includes experience with various project methodologies (Agile/scrum/waterfall) and contemporary project management software (Asana, Monday.com, Trello, JIRA)
  • Strong digital literacy awareness and confidence in the use of digital tools to solve problems, be productive, and collaborate with others in a digital environment.
  • The ability to perform, adjust and excel in a high-performing team and fast-paced and high-profile environment.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills, and an ability to communicate complex and technical concepts succinctly.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to apply well developed analytical and problem-solving skills to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative with resilience, and ability to manage competing and changing priorities while contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability undertake work with a high level of complexity and sensitivity under limited guidance.
